Charleston players, game-speed training

Charleston has a strong youth soccer community, with clubs, rec leagues, high school programs and a professional team in the Charleston Battery. I came up through it myself: I played for Charleston Soccer Club until I was 14 and now play for Surf.

My sessions add what team practice often can’t: individual reps. More touches, faster decisions, sharper finishing and the confidence to try things in a game. Sessions happen at parks and fields that are convenient for your family.

How it works

How training in Charleston works

Warm-up & ball mastery

About ten minutes of quick touches to get the feet going. No standing around.

Technical block

The main focus of the day, such as first touch, 1v1 moves or finishing, with lots of reps and quick feedback.

Game-speed reps

We put the skill under pressure with defenders, time limits and decisions, just like a real match.

Finish & home plan

A fun finisher, then one or two things to practise at home before next time.

  • First Touch
  • Ball Mastery
  • 1v1 Moves
  • Passing & Scanning

  • Confidence

Local knowledge

Training that fits Charleston soccer

Club tryouts in the Charleston area are competitive, and the players who stand out are usually the ones who are comfortable on the ball under pressure. That’s exactly what we train: first touch, 1v1s and quick decisions.

Volunteering with the Charleston Battery has shown me how pros train: the basics, done fast, every day. I bring that standard to younger players in a way that’s fun and positive.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

Do you train players across Charleston?

Yes. I’m based in Mount Pleasant and also train players in Charleston and on James Island. Tell me where you are and we’ll find a convenient field.

Can training help my child make a club team?

Training can’t guarantee a roster spot, but individual reps on first touch, 1v1s and decision-making are exactly what coaches notice at tryouts.

Do you work with players from any club?

Yes. Private training complements whatever club or rec team your player is on.

How do I get started?

Send a request on the Book a Session page and I’ll reply to plan the first session.
