Private Soccer Training Mount Pleasant & Charleston

I'm Olly, a 16-year-old player with Surf and a Charleston Battery volunteer. I train younger players 1-on-1 and in small groups so they get sharper on the ball, quicker in their decisions and more confident on game day.

Why train with me

A coach who's still in the game

Most trainers stopped playing years ago. I’m still competing every week with Surf, and I spend time around the Charleston Battery watching how professionals train. What I pick up there shows up in my sessions.

I’m also close enough in age that younger players relate to me like an older teammate. They listen, they compete and they have fun, which is exactly when they improve the most.

  • Every session built for your player, not a generic drill sheet
  • Game-speed reps: first touch, 1v1s, finishing, scanning
  • Positive, high-energy coaching parents can trust
  • Sessions at parks and fields close to home

What we work on

Skills that show up on game day

The game is faster now, so the training should be too.

First Touch

Control it, protect it, play it forward. The first touch decides everything that comes next.

Ball Mastery

Sole rolls, cuts and quick feet until the ball feels like part of you.

1v1 Moves

Beat a defender with a change of pace or direction, then get your head up.

Passing & Scanning

Check your shoulder before the ball arrives, so you already know your next pass.

Finishing

Strike technique with both feet, and composure when the chance comes.

Confidence

Mistakes are part of training. Confidence comes from reps, not luck.

How it works

From request to first session

Send a request

Fill out the short form with your player's age, experience and what you'd like to work on.

Pick a time & place

I'll reply to set up a time and a park or field near you in Mount Pleasant, Charleston or James Island.

First session

We start with a skills check so I can see where your player is and set a few clear goals.

Keep building

Regular sessions keep the progress going, and I'll suggest a few things to practise at home in between.

Confidence comes from reps.

The more comfortable you are on the ball, the more dangerous you become. Let’s get to work.

FAQ

Questions parents ask

What ages do you train?

Mostly younger players in elementary and middle school who want extra touches outside team practice. If your player is older or just starting out, send a message and we'll figure out whether it's a good fit.

Where do sessions take place?

At public parks and fields around Mount Pleasant, Charleston and James Island. Tell me where you're located when you send a request and we'll pick a spot that works.

How long is a session?

Sessions usually run about an hour: a warm-up, a focused technical block and game-style reps at the end.

Do you offer group sessions?

Yes. Semi-private sessions are for 2–4 players, usually teammates or friends. I also run small-group training and camps at certain times of the year.

How much does training cost?

It depends on the session type and how many players are training. Send a request and I’ll share current rates. My guide to private soccer training costs in Charleston explains what’s normal locally.

Why train with a 16-year-old instead of an adult coach?

I'm still playing at a competitive level, so the training reflects how the game is played right now. Younger players also relate to me as an older teammate, so they open up, work harder and have more fun.

How do I book?

Use the form on the Book a Session page. I’ll reply to confirm a time and place.
